It’s now over five years since the first seeds were planted at the allotments, the allotment site is full, has a waiting list and now looks like an allotments!

A New Gate!

Long overdue since the rabbit proof fence was installed in 2012, and in hindsight, we should have installed this gate in the middle of the allotments, to stop people climbing over the fence and damaging it, and to prevent it from sagging any further, a new gate was installed at the beginning of March.

It’s been long overdue, but if you’ve visited the allotments in the last week, you may have noticed some changes.

The drainage work has now been completed, and I hope this will improve the drainage of the site in the future.

Many Thanks to

  • Matthew Atkinson of Atkinson Landscapes.
  • Richard Barnes.
  • Pat Bradley.
  • The Allotment volunteers that regularly pumped out the water using the allotment water pump.

We applied for a grant from the local Parish Council (Yapham cum Meltonby), to provide a new lawn mower for the association, to replace the associations aging and broken lawn mowers that were cast off, and originally donated to us.

We were successful in obtaining the grant money, and this has helped us purchase a new Honda Izy HRG 416 SK Lawnmower, which is self propelled, which will help members cut the grass.

My Thanks to the Councillors at Yapham cum Meltonby Parish Council.
