Allotment visit – Scruton Allotments between Northallerton and Bedale

Most recently (Aug Bank Holiday) I visited Scruton Allotments which is between Northallerton and Bedale. They were lucky enough to secure lottery funding primarily for ‘rabbit proof’ fencing and have a really good thriving site after only two years. The soil there is very good – one of our biggest challenges. Another good day out (apart from motorbike running out of fuel on the way back !)

One thing that struck me at both sites was the ingenuity of plot holders with regard to crop coverings and methods of growing. Lots of ideas to incorporate once we can get going ! Thanks to all the fellow growers I met.
